Mr. Paul Berg
Head of School
Paul Berg is a dedicated educator who brings to PNA valuable administrative experience as a Principal and Head of School, working in public and independent schools in Oregon and American- International Schools abroad.
During fifteen years in international education he worked in diverse, multicultural, high-achieving school communities, known for their academic rigor, second language requirements, experiential learning, and community service programs. He has taught and administered the International Baccalaureate Program, and participated in the earliest collaborations between the IBO and member schools that ultimately brought about the Primary and Middle Years Programs (IBPYP and IBMYP).
A positive model of lifelong learning and continuing education, Paul works diligently and effectively to support the development of people, programs, and schools as learning organizations. He graduated from Wilson High School in Portland, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and earned all state honors in basketball and baseball. He went on to Portland State University on a joint academic-athletic scholarship, where he played basketball, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, and earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Political Science and Educational Administration respectively. Recently, he has worked as an instructor in the Graduate School of Education at PSU, teaching classes in International Education, School Administration, and supervising site based internships of administrative license candidates.
Having lived and worked in Europe as an American expatriate for over a decade, Paul has dual citizenship, and holds passports for both the United States and the European Union (EU). He is married to Veli, who is Thai, and they enjoy traveling throughout Thailand to visit family and friends. In addition to international travel, Paul enjoys playing most sports and touring around the USA on his Harley Davidson Road King.
