Mrs. Jill Rudzek
Fifth Grade

Jill received her undergraduate degree in 2000 from Western Oregon University’s School of Education and her Master of Arts in Education from Southern Oregon University. She was the sixth grade teacher and lead teacher for grades K-6 at Brighton Academy, a private school in Grants Pass for two years. While teaching there Jill also was the drama teacher for grades 6-12 and the middle school cross country coach. She substitute taught for grades K-12 for two years following her teaching experience at Brighton.

Jill’s other experience includes much having to do with the YMCA. She began her employment at the YMCA in 1994 and has worked for three different branches running various children’s programs. Jill has been the Camp Coordinator/Director running the day-camps and the residence camps, a Site Director for after-school programs, and the Evening Manager. She recognizes this experience as what really gave her a start towards education. In February 2004 she was recognized as a Youth Asset Builder by the Josephine County Commission for Children and Families.

Jill has been on the PNA staff since August 2004. Jill also directs our yearly Spring musical drama productions and has put on such plays as, “The Shoemaker and the Elves”, “Robin Hood”, “Cinderella”, and most recently “Gone with the Breeze.”

In addition to teaching at PNA, Jill operates our after-school childcare program, Covered Bridge Childcare LLC. This runs each afternoon and most in-service days during the school-year. Covered Bridge also offers an enrichment day-camp program available to PNA and non-PNA students during the summer months that include many activities, crafts, and field trips.

Her references are strong and unanimous in their conviction and her capabilities:

  • "Jill is organized, self-motivated and has the utmost integrity."
  • "She has strong values and principles"
  • "Jill made emotional and intellectual contact with the students."
  • "She is a standout in her combination of discipline and her respect for learning."
  • "Her intelligence, philosophy, and grit ... make her absolutely the best.

Philosophy:
"The environment I provide in the classroom is based on love and respect for each individual child and promotes high expectations. My goal is to nurture student's innocence and encourage their holistic development. I know I gain my biggest rewards by making a difference in the lives of children. I am truly grateful for the experiences I have had and anxious to build further upon them."
